Exhaust lift

A coworker of mine had said he heard of an exhaust lift on tractors. the Exhaust of the engine would run a small turbine type unit that would power a shaft or hydraulic pump. I have never seen this, and it would sound very inefffcient plus put excessive wear on the motor has anybody seen this? see ya.
