Have to disagree with John on a couple of points. We farm 1000 acres and also cut around 750 acres of hay, plus about 15 miles of road ditches for hay. As far as the main operation goes, we do have newer equipment (78 model IH 1086, 82 model Case 2590, 68 model IH 544), but for the cutting the road ditches and other small stuff like grinding feed, we use the Super MTA, A, and I will be using my H that I am working on right now next summer. Some of us DO depend on our older equipment to get us through the day, meanwhile we use the newer stuff as backup for the smaller jobs if the "old faithfuls" of the farm ever let us down. I HAVE to agree that they don't make them like they used to. Our 806 had around 24,000 hours on it when we sold it, one engine rebuild and one clutch, everything else lasted (except of course tires). And some of the older tractors were going strong for decades before we ever got them! The new stuff doesn't hold up as well. I personally like using my SMTA and A, they run nice and smooth and work fine for what I want to do, plus you can't beat that sound! Steven
