My Dad had a 350U with play in the upper spindle.
Tightening did not help. I took the nut off and place a machinery washer over the splines and put the nut back on . The washer needs to be big enough so you can tighten the steering arm down farther. I used a long cheater bar to tighten it and it has worked for years with out loosening.
