Your comment about using the lights to provide a discharge through the meter, got me thinking. Someone has rewired the lights around the original switch directly to the battery. I wonder if I have wiring problems behind the instrument panel that could be disrupting the circut from the generator to the battery.

I'll be digging into it Saturday. How's the best way to get behind the instrument panel? I don't see any bolts visible. Do I have to remove the battery box to get in there? (I'll be doing that anyway to turn the battery around.)

I'd like to eventually fix the switch and rewire the lights closer to it's original state. What's the best source for wiring diagrams?
