I recently installed a new main harness and also a voltage regulator harness. When I purchased the tractor there was no wire harnesses on the tractor. On the generator there was a relay mounted on top, I'am not sure if this tractor started out with a magneto or not, but it sure looks like the one on page 30 item 7 of the parts manual. When I hooked up both wire harnesses for tractors with battery ignition following the guide on page 50 of the maintenance manual, the only thing that worked was one of the lights. When the tractor was running I took one of the battery cables off and the tractor stop running. The Ammeter did not move, just a little when I turned on the lights. Where should I start and what should I buy first the voltage regulator or generator. Or how can I test each to determine which one is bad.
