460 rewiring

i just bought a 460gas that runs good but has wires cut and wires jumped and will drain battery .does anyone know how to wire one from scratch maybe using a GM alt with built in regulator so i can do away with the gen and external reg on the tractor and all those wires. i know its not that hard to wire to run and charge but im not sure how .any info on the 460 like pics,links,books,even if you have one id like to know . thanks
