Terry: Everything you say seems right for a Super A1. The taps for checking oil is normal as the engine is same as Super C.
If you look at machined flat surface just below number one plug, there will be stamped digits about 1'4" high. It should say FMC being engine model for Super C The engine serial number will be stamped there as well, should be 206700, give or take 50.
