also, if the carb float was not set correctly, being too high with the gasoline level by gravity drain "above the level of the top of the main jet where it feeds into the venturi," you may be spilling excess gas over the main jet and into the air intake at low idle. This is because the main jet is not fully needed at low idle. Then, when you throttle up, the mixture is far too rich for a moment, until the mixture in the venturi returns to normal. The float level is set correctly when the gasoline is "primed" to the top of the main jet, but not spilling over. The carb kit had directions for the exact height for the float to be set. That could be the problem.
