BTW, the first mark is "TDC." Put the tractor in 5th gear, with the switch OFF OFF OFF. Rock gently forward until the distributor cam lobe is at the "absolute highest point." Your points should be shiny, new if possible and new condenser, and a feeler guage should slightly drag at .20 - - and be careful to slowly tighten the point set down - -tightening will alter the gap as you tighten. Then set your timing with the light - warm. Battery should be in good shape, since output of coil is very dependent on input to coil. Low voltage in will cause less voltage step-up in the secondary, and therefore less spark voltage. Do all that and still have hard starting, go to fuel and compression.
