My son and I just put the deck back on his Farmall MD. I think the 400 deck would be very similar, with the exception of the shifter. I think if you have oil leak problems through the brakes you have a seal problem on the shafts the brakes connect to. I think the seals are accessible if you remove the brake housings and the brake assembly. However if the bearings are bad, the seals won't last long. I don't remember if the bearings can be replaced from the outside or through the top. I&T should tell you.
