Deck removal

I have a 400 and have drained the transmission, removed the pto, hydraulic reservoir, etc., and have been reluctant to tackle the deck. Since I've gone this far, would it be wise to remove the deck? Other than the weight, are there problems that I should be aware of?

I also need to find the cause of leakage of fluid through the brake assembly.
