I did check the oil. On my H, there is about a 1 1/3 quart "span" between the petcocks. Being a
"shadetree" mechanic, I thought I might have a bad
valve guide or two since the tractor didn't smoke
all the time. This might be an excellent excuse to bring it into the garage this winter and rebuild with a stepped pistons kit. I owned an airplane for about ten years that used a quart an
hour. Had excellent compression, never fouled plugs,not a drop of oil in the air/oil seperator,
and ran great. It must be a curse!
