Wayne, Sounds good. It might be as simple as this. There is a part called the shifter clutch, that slides on the PTO shaft. It has a set screw in it so that the clutch can only move back and forth so far. My guess is that the set screw is either worn down or just backed out, allowing the clutch to move beyond it's normal peramitors. the only other hting I can think of is that there is a plate that the shift lever is in, that may be worn or missing, also the lever spring may not be keeping the lever locked into position in the plate.
