4 AUXILIARY CONTROL VALVE CENTERING SPRING
5 AUX. CONTROL VALVE CENTERING SPRING WASHER
6 AUX. CONTROL VALVE CENTERING SPRING SPACER
7 AUXILIARY CONTROL VALVE CENTERING SPRING LOCK

Looks like you adjust that nut so the spring returns the valve to center, i.e., no fluid moving through either hose. All the parts are "retired", so don't do what I usually do in these situations and drop a little piece in the shop floor debris!
