The rear end was not frozen.I had left it in neutral last fall.I could push it by hand until I tried to get it into a gear.It appears to be in 4th which is where it went initially then i moved it to 1st and reverse where the lever is now. With the lever midway between 1st and reverse it will drive forward. If I put it in reverse or 1st it is defintely locked up.How do you get the shifter off.I see a pin about 3/8" in diameter.Do I knock this out and lift up on the shifter? This pin is under a cup type mechanism with a spring above it and a cotter key.Standing behind the tractor looking forward do I drive it from right to left or left to right? How do i align the shift rails so that they are in the correct position?
