Jimer, After re-reading your post on the 300U meltdown, I decided to suggest a Fusable Link in the system to limit damage in the future. A fuse link is a meltable wire used to prevent vehicle fires on autos. They are available at the Autoparts store. They typically are placed in the circuit between the battery (at the solenoid or starter switch where the key/amp gauge attach) and the rest of the electrical system (not including the starter motor). Choose an inline link with 15% more amps than the generator/alternator can put out. This protects the wires, and is transparent to normal use. Good luck JimN
