I don't know what edl's smoking down there... He's about the only one I know of that doesn't hold the 706 up as one of IH's BEST. I mean, heavy 806 rear end, wimpy 560 motor... How could it NOT hold up? Yeah, the gas engine needs frequent rebuilds, about every 2500 hours if you're lucky, so assume this one is about ready. One thing that'll save you money is the lack of a TA. That's another of those big-ticket items that could come around and bite you if it needed replacing. No TA saves you a $2500-4000 repair bill.
