Before that the tractor belonged to his father and while I can't answer for what exact kind of oil Grandpa might have used, I guarantee it was the cheapest decent oil he could find, probably NOT the IH brand.

The original engine in that tractor lasted until 2000 when I finally had to have it rebuilt. Could it have lasted significantly longer if we had all used better oil? You tell me...
