It depends on what you define as under load. If you are discing or pulling a chisel tooth, I have seen the manifolds get cherry hot with the governor being fully opened. If its getting red from simply going up a hill or pulling hoppers, then I suspect overheating. Does your water temp. gauge work? If not, then I would invest in a new thermostat. My 51H had the original thermostat in it and it was stuck closed. Who knows how much that machine ran too hot.
