Doing a little update on a 10 year old rebuild of my F14. One part of the project is to replace the leaking manifold gasket. Got the manifold off this afternoon, and 3 out of four of the exhaust ports had chunks blown right out of the gasket. When I rebuilt the motor, I used the one-piece fiber gasket that came with the kit. New manifold, new head, new studs, brass nuts, all torqued down good and rechecked after a couple of heat cycles on the engine. Ordered a replacement gasket from Rice Equipment, same deal, plain fiber gasket. Dunno if something is warped or if I just didn't reef it down tight enough, but all the intake ports looked fine. Is there a heavier duty gasket available? Maybe something with metal crush rings around the exhaust ports?
