Not to throw this back in your face, but this isn't an 86 series with the little faggy electric gauge. He's working on a 1066. It already has a mechanical gauge and the only electric thing about it is the light bulb. This is not to say that the gauge isn't faulty, however. Yes, I know that amount of pressure will run it; that's not the issue. My point is, where is all that oil going as compared to the norm? If he's only got 55 lbs with it wrapped up, that engine is screamin' at him that something is seriously wrong. Either with the gauge, with the oil not being there in the first place, or with it getting by somewhere (read: bad bearings/bad oil pump). I'm no IH mechanic by any stretch of the imagination, but having owned four of the old dogs, I can tell you that 55 lbs is completely abnormal oil pressure and deserves at least a look into the "why" of the matter.
