Wardner if I understood correct he's trying to put a M cover on a 400 rear. If you put a 400 cover on a MTA you should have been able to use the 400 shift forks with it because the transmission housing and everything in is just like a 400. If you have a set of MTA shift forks and rails left over thats what size he needs to put a 50 M cover on a 400 or SMTA rear end and make it work.
