OT Spring: Mating season

Pretty interesting show last evening. A single rooster pheasant was strutting and calling in the alfalfa about 100 yards from the porch window. In a short time a hen walked out of the weeds on the edge. Of course the rooster went right to work, chasing her down and getting serious. The commotion was just too much for the other girls in the area, and within a matter of minutes he was surrounded by no less than 6 more hens, waiting for their opportunity.
He was still courting them when the last light faded.I wonder if I will find him lying there today? And to think, those girls usually have about 12 -14 eggs, so he has to repeat this for a couple of weeks. Tough job huh? Gordo
