Allen, Not sure how your system is, but moms system in her car, requires some charge before the system kicks the compressor clutch on. We made an evacuation system with an old industrial refrigerator compressor dad got from Copeland. Worked pretty well in mom's sytem. We had the A/C apart for about a week, then used that to evacuate it. In my experiences refilling systems, the colder it is out, the longer it takes the gas to evaporate and go into the low side lines. You can try heating the cannister up to accelerate the process. Also, not sure how your inputs are, but make sure whatever u use to hookup and dump the refrigerant into the system properly depresses the schrader valves, or else there will be no flow.
