I think that you will find that the meaning of
"Sealer/retorque required" is that there is a
heat sensitive sealant already on the gasket,
so when the engine is first warmed up, this
melts to seal on the head and block. After the
sealant has melted the head needs to be
retorqued. This is very common on the metal
sandwich type gaskets. If there is a coating on
the gasket that looks like a coat of varnish, that
is the sealant. This designed to seal an a
clean metal surface. The addition of any other
sealant will defeat its purpose.
