Gene Bender may be on to the problem. If the hub is pointing toward the engine the disk holds the pressure plate away from the flywheel so far that the fingers move way far in (away from the T.O. bearing) If the clutch pedal is adjusted in this condition it will not push in much past half way, the disk will be torn up, and the tractor will not shift or go in gear.
