O/T Firewood

I have cut and burned firewood for over 20 years. Oak ash and maple is common for me in Western NY.
I recently acquired a volume of cherry chunks that I have been spliting and stacking. I have heard that fruit woods require more time to season then traditional wood. Is it true for cherry or wood that is more dense like apple?
