Greg - you ought to go to the YT HomePage and see the story on the 51 H rebuild by John "The Red" Fritz. The story will let you see what is involved from start to finish. He is a quite experienced mechanic although he doesn't claim to be an expert, and the story will show you that it is easy to get buffaloed by one of these old machines. Every rebuild has its moments. And, one little point that is very important. After he's done all that, he acknowledges that someday he may have to break it down to put a new rear engine seal in, - - sooner than later if the old H decided to spit more than a couple tablespoons of oil out any time soon. If you start, make sure you have parts for all the problems, and "problems for all the parts" in the kit. Best, RKS
