I have seen questions about white Hs and Ms posted on here many times. I know that there is no documentation to say that IH ever painted Hs and Ms white. I looked at an original (unrestored) H yesterday that looked like it could have been white. I know about the white lead primer on the castings, but did they also use it on the sheetmetal? All of the main castings show traces of white as the first color, as do the hood and grille. The rear wheels do not. It was painted red over the white. The serial # is 140879 and the 1 casting date I saw was 9-18-M idicating 1943. It doesn't make any sense that they would have made a demonstrator during the war when tractors were in short supply if not impossible to get. The guy that has it has it sold and he said the guy that bought it knew all about them making white Hs in 1943. I took all of that with a grain of salt, But it sure looks like white may have been the original color. I didn't get all excited about it, I just wanted to see what all you guys think.
