The shaft is in the final drive. It comes out as a complete unit. The seal will be in a keeper that you have to align the final drive through when you replace it. Do the following: Use a hoist or floor jack to support the drive as it is removed. A hoist is better. It balances near the jack point near the exterior end. DO NOT DRIVE THE OLD SEAL IN. IT MUST BE PULLED. You may have to invest in a seal puller. If you have a hook that you can drive you may be able to remove it by driving OUT. If it is the left drive, you will probalby want to replace the break band since your old one will be soaked with oil. It will be right there so you should consider doing just that. Reassembly is tricky. Use the lift or jack to insert the drive shaft into the seal and transmission without damaging the new seal. Aliging the break band keeper is more difficult. Since the curvature of the band will have the pin out of line, you will have to rotate the drive slightly to insert the inner end of the break band pin. Otherwise, installing the final drive is similar to the replacement of an auto transmission without the clutch and pilot bering issues.
