Cracked heads can be repaired by a cast iron weld specialist. I had mine repaired and it's been running strong for two years now. It was cheaper for me to repair my M head than it was to get a 400-450 head. Besides, most 400-450 heads are the same head that was on the M in the first place. As long as you have an 8574 casting head you have a good head. There is only one head that fits that is a better head I do believe the cast numfor that is 362174, which was usde on later 400-450 models.
