hi jim, i cant right off my head tell you about the horsepower, but i believe the 454 was made back in the mid to late 70's. i have a 354 gas which is a similar model, but have used my neighbor's 454 many times. its been a good tractor for our farms. we use it for plowing, cutting hay, and disking on about 15 or so acres. it has plenty of power for all of those tasks. you may want to check between the 454 and the 350 on things like being able to attach a loader, or power steering. that may make it easier for you decision. hope this helps you some.
