The shaft on that pump may have a groove worn from the old seal rubbing that area. You may need a speedi-sleeve to cover the worn area on the shaft and a new seal. I don't have a parts breakdown on the pump used on the 444, but here's one used on the C, Super A's and Super C's. Hal PS: NAPA auto parts may have the speedi-sleeve and seal.
