I'm not near my manuals right now, but I am pretty sure that the original "Christmas tree" valve had a cap that sealed the breather. After I put a two way on my M, I replaced the breather with a solid cap, but it didn't "feel right" to me. Now the return is plumbed to a tee at the drain fitting. It has been this way for several years and given me no problems. It makes me a little nervous when I take into the woods or overgrown pasture. I am always afraid that a stick or something will grab the hose and rip it off.
