Do a search on the archives and you will probably turn up many posts from people reporting symptoms identical to yours that were also using after-market filters of the wrong type for a gravity feed system. In addition I would note that people usually hang extra fuel filters onto a system that is problematic. They will rarely do so on a good working system, although I'm sure it happens occasionally. If you have not removed the sediment bulb and examined its contents lately, you might have a look. Also, if the interior of the tank has not been examined, that might not be a bad idea.
