Although I prefer a friction throttle, you can fix the toothed ones. Take it apart and carefully rebend the arm. It gets bent from people pushing down on it. Also, the turned up rub piece on the other end bets worn down. Get it straightened out so the spring has a chance to hold it up and it will work fine. It is nice to be able to count notches.
