These guys are right. The safest and most effective way to remove the engine is to remove the front bolster and frame rails, then the engine. I used an engine hoist attached to the bolster to lift the front of the tractor high enough to get the front wheels off of the ground. Then I blocked up under the bell housing and lowered the front down on top of the blocks, while keeping the front tires off of the ground. Then I took the frame rails off and moved the bolster with the engine hoist and set the bolster on the ground in one piece. Then I used the engine hoist to remove the engine. It only took a few hours to do it this way.
