Thanks to all of you Cub sages for your replies. The tank was flaking a fair bit of rust, so I had it acid cleaned and lined last season, and also installed an in line filter that was purchased at the local IH dealer. No one commented on the possible complications of the fuel line heating up a bit - I"ll look into replacing the rubber tubing with metal just in case. I"ll probably pull the filter, though many have warned me that gas tank (re) linings don"t always hold up. I"ll call the dealer too and make sure the filter they sold me was for a Cub.
