Rusty Farmall CNKS or Anyone

We purchase a 51 Farmall M tractor today,they had removed the belt pully housing and installed
an aluminium housing with gears in it. When you pulled a lever the gears will drop down on a transmission gear. Sorry I can't tell you more. There's no part numbers either.
Any help would be appreciated on what it is an what its worth. Thanks, Ed
