If you are going to use an alternator, you can use the old bracket as a basis for fabrication of a different one. Just flip the old bracket and use some spacers and a long bolt. This usually works. As for the alternator, a Delco or Nissan works good, however, I don't recommend using a one wire. Use the 3 wire system and use the diagram provided by Bob M. The one wire requires higher rpm's to excite (start) the alternator charging process. I have had one out of four one-wires work for me. All 3 wire setups worked great.
