The only thing I could think of is the dents on the float could be letting it hang up on the sides of the carb cutting off fuel supply.Not to say the dents are the problem, but it could be bent somehow.Since you replaced the electrical and it still dies, then it sounds to me like a fuel delivery problem. What happens when you open the carb drain? BTW, not to step on anyones feet, but if you are running out of gas, they can occasionally "backfire", especially if its been working hard.
