Good for you. Somehow, I have a sense that your problem will return. If it is a lot warmer outside where you are than it was the last time you tried to start the tractor, that alone could account for the stronger battery. Weak batteries especially are very temp sensitive, and strangely, a standing battery will regain some small amount of charge without potential applied to its posts, because of the dissolved acids it's made of and what they do when it sits and it's warmer. Also, for the spark from the coil to be hot, it has to have an adequate voltage on the primary winding, which may have helped keep the tractor from starting last time, if it was colder outside. Hope it's fixed. If you had a lot of crud around the top terminal on the starter, it would make sense that it was robbing amperage from there, but I don't see it having much affect under the starter, if the mounting bolt was tight. Cheers, RKS
