I figured it out!!!! It was a dead short in the switch box. There are two insulated gromets that the amp gauge is hooked up to on the back that keeps it from rubbing on the bracket that holds it in place. One of those grommets was missing and it amp meter was dead shorting on that the bracket... Thanks for sharing your thoughts... Pete
