The throwout bearing SHOULD not be touching the fingers , there should be a air gap of about and 1/8 th inch . When working on OLD TRACTORS that have had extencive field testing and abuce ya had ware everyplace and ya can not go BY THE BOOK . Now if ya had rebuilt every woren pice and had NO play anyplace then you could go BY the book , the book is a starting point . Now with out me going out to the truck to get my bookout as off the top of my head i do not remember the free travel of the clutch pedal to start off with and since i can not see what is happening with it and where your excess ware is this is where you are going to have to study real close and make the nessary allowance for then ya will have to adjust the T/A linkage so that when the clutch is pushed down it will release the T/A pressure plate to allow easy shifting with out the T/A throwout bearing to ride on the T/A clutch fingers but still do what it is suppose to do.
