Like Vet says they cubs turn over so easy that you can hand crank one as fast or faster then the starter turns them. As far as whats wrong with it and the starter not engageing it could be as simple as a bad bendex or could be as bad as a bad ring gear. As far as just running for 10 minutes that could be a carb problem of a problem with spark you will need to trouble shoot it to know which one it is
