I like to have the dump valve adjusted so that it dumps with about one inch of travel left while pushing the clutch in. To check this, whether or not the light works, face the tractor up a slight incline. With the transmission in 1 rst Low and TA forward, push in the clutch and the tractor should roll backwards. As you start to release the clucth, the tractor should stop rolling when the clutch pedal is released about one inch. This is the point where the light will go out. The main clutch should not begin to engage yet in this position. As you release the clutch about another inch, the clutch should start to engage. To check the transmission brake adjustment, idle the engine at 1000 - 1200 RPM in neutral. Push in the clutch pedal all the way. The gears should stop in three to five seconds. If they stop sooner it is too tight and can cause hard shifting. If it takes longer, lengthen the adjustment rod 1/2 turn at a time until you get the right adjustment. These checks work on any tractor with a TA. Other than the transmission brake it also works on the mechanical TAs in the smaller/older tracors.
