farmall 140 rear drain/weep

I recently heard a tinny sound in the rear near the PTO so I added gear oil both at the plug above the rear PTO and also at the plug near the gear shift. I added 5 quarts. Later I noticed that the tinny sound at quit but that oil waas leaking out a hole in the rear end....Is there a plug missing...Is this a manufactured hole to allow seepage in the event of overfilling???
My manuals do not show a picture or diagrahm of this part of the tractor.....
