Tractor is newer than a 39 or 40 model unless transmission top cover and PTO were changed. If engine kits contain crankshaft bearings that is one reason they want serial # of engine. Change was made to bigger crankshaft journals on late M. If a sleeve was cracked or split before you removed it there's a good chance block is cracked there also. On side of engine block oil filter side, look above oil filter and above tappet cover. Near rear should be a block casting # , 4 numbers followed by 2 letters. Going toward front of engine near same level look for cast date of block. (example .4.6.T. = april 6 1950) It may or may not have raised dots on each side of # or letter. On toward front of engine and very near front will be a flat on block just above tappet cover,the serial # with prefix and suffix if any should be stamped in. Some engine blocks were replaced and no serial # stamped. If you find date code of engine it will give a idea of the tractor year if engine is original. Most M tractor and engine serial # don't match. Radiators are changed a lot so this is not much to go on but your radiator is not a low pressure type used on early tractors.
