Follow all the advice given, then put both new discs & actuator in a drum lying open side up on a bench. Lay a straightedge across the drum & measure the depth to the disc. If it's over .025" then some creative machining must be done to get the proper clearance which will decrease the amount of actuator travel necessary to ensure good braking & releasing. Only test with new discs, as worn ones will require extra machining that will be regretted when the discs are replaced.
