Pete is right - if you confirmed the match of the timing mark to the pointer and the dist node position of the rotor "at a different time" from the time you connected the plug wires to the distributor. If you anticipated that each time the timing mark lines up, that you are firing number 1, then you must remember that the engine is a four-stroke, - - power and exhaust are one revolution, then intake and compression are another. So, every "second" time the timing mark appears at the marker, number one fires. You have to be sure that the marker is lined up "and that number one is at the top of the compression stroke." Only then will the rotor point to number one on the distributor node. I think Pete is right, and if you made this common mistake, she'll fire right up. If you are positive that you have already done this correctly, then I would be suspicious of the fuel lines or the carb, since you know you are getting fire. Just because there is no water in the glass sediment bowl doesn't mean fuel is flowing into the main jet venturi or the idle jet. Come back and let us know what you find. RKS
